Celebrating International Women’s Day @Elevare

March 8th is International Women’s Day and to celebrate we met with some leading women in our organisation to find out why they have chosen their profession and what drives them to succeed in a male-dominated industry.

Elevare strives for equity in our staffing levels with women holding 45% of positions within the company, while our supervisor to management structure is split 50/50.

With this, in 2021, Elevare was awarded the Women’s Business Enterprise certification by WEConnect International. Speaking on the certification, Anita O’Donovan, Chief Financial Officer, at Elevare, said: “We couldn’t be prouder to be a part of the WEConnect International network. Their great work, advocating for gender equality at ownership and senior management level, has never been so important.  We look forward to broadening our network with like-minded contacts, whose values align with our own – creating a more diverse, inclusive, and sustainable organisation.”

We met with some of our people to find out what #BreakTheBias means to them and what challenges they face.

Progressive thinking

Caroline Shakespeare Team Lead in Dublin

“I care about keeping people safe and making them feel like they are kept safe, that’s why I wanted to become part of a security team. Elevare helped me progress into my role as a team lead by enrolling me in a people management course. I use the knowledge from that course in my role as a Team Lead. Moving forward, I think we can promote equality by educating our officers with the use of pronouns and making sure we understand the correct wording. My message on International Women’s Day is to believe in yourself and treat everyone how you want to be treated.”

At Elevare, we are passionate about the benefits of building a workplace where everyone feels they can belong, learn, and thrive.

We know from research that having a diverse and understanding workplace is linked to increased productivity, creativity, profits, employee engagement and retention rates, and ultimately, a broader set of skills to utilise within the organisation. What’s not to like.

We are passionate about the benefits of building a workplace where everyone feels they can belong, learn, and thrive. There is always more we can do in striving for a more diverse and inclusive organisation which is why we continuously measure and reassess our progress.
